19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard courts
A resurgent Medvedev secured his first championship for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.
The athlete, a former number one, has had a challenging period, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.
His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in specific - resulted in him falling of the top ten and finally parting ways with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.
Now working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought three-set win over opponent Moutet.
This marks the player's initial trophy following the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface after that period of 2023.
Victory also means he has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one distinct events.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my two daughters together, so to get a title is really nice," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in tribute of my child her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, comprising in that event in the past months.
The player's counter-punching approach and regular reactions on court had caused observers to wonder if his skill to perform at the highest level was concluded.
Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and compete positively, reinforced by an improved service.
Medvedev came back from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the last five games to go ahead.
The pair swapped service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his first professional championship, took control to force a final set.
The opponent rescued four initial chances in a competitive third set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to secure the win.
Suitably, the winner earned the win with a rally at the net, with his opponent failing to manage a return after a lengthy match.
