According to new allegations from a whistleblower, Ghislaine Maxwell, currently serving a two-decade sentence for trafficking offenses, is reportedly preparing a commutation application for review by the presidential administration.

Preferential Handling Claimed at Federal Prison

Congressional Democrats on the House judiciary committee announced that a whistleblower provided information indicating the inmate is working on the clemency petition. They also stated she has been given preferential conditions at the federal prison camp in the Lone Star State.

Congressman Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the committee, stated in a official statement that the prison’s warden was “helping” Maxwell with copying, printing, and sending documents to support her bid for executive mercy.

Specific details of the “commutation application” are unclear, Raskin added.

Claimed Perks and Custom Arrangements

The representative claims that, according to the whistleblower, the prisoner has been given specially prepared food that are hand-delivered to her cell, and the supervisor has individually organized private meetings for her and her visitors.

These meetings allegedly include a “special cordoned-off area” for visitors and a variety of food and drinks for her associates.

Maxwell’s visitors were also reportedly permitted to bring computers, which the congressman characterized as an “unprecedented action” given the security risk and chance of unsupervised contact.

In one alleged instance, when communications failed for other inmates, Maxwell was given specific instructions about instructing her contacts to call and how personnel would connect the communication to her.

Supervisor Acting as Assistant

The source also allegedly told congressional members that when the convict wanted to review and edit documents promptly, she reportedly employed the warden as her private aide.

The news release indicates that those writing to her would email documents directly to the supervisor, who would hand them over to Maxwell, who would review and edit them and return them to the official to scan and provide to the original sender.

Additional Privileges Alleged

Other privileges reportedly provided to Maxwell include time to “play with” a service dog puppy – a perk typically prohibited – as well as private after-hours access to the facility's gym.

Her legal counsel did not immediately respond to a inquiry regarding the whistleblower’s claims.

Through a spokesperson, the White House said that it “does not comment” on possible pardon appeals.

“Per the President's remarks, pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has considered,” the spokesperson added.

Recent Background

Recently, it was reported that she told close associates in emails from prison that she was more content at the new prison than her previous prison.

This past summer, she was moved from a secure facility in Florida's capital to the minimum-security camp in the state, where most inmates are incarcerated for non-violent offenses and white-collar crimes.

This move, which experts described as exceptional, occurred just days after she was questioned about the Epstein case by the senior justice official, Todd Blanche, who also once acted as the President's personal lawyer.

That interview came as the administration was facing mounting pressure to release more documents related to the Epstein investigation and amid widespread conjecture around the President's own personal ties to the disgraced financier and convicted sex offender, who was found deceased in custody in 2019 while awaiting prosecution on trafficking accusations.

Lawmaker Reactions

In the news release, the congressman also announced that he had sent a letter to the President, demanding answers about the insider's claims, and urged the president to reject the clemency appeal.

“You should not grant any type of pardon to this adjudicated and remorseless sex offender,” the representative stated in the letter. “Your Administration should not be providing her with room service, with puppies to play with, with federal law enforcement officials waiting on her every need, or with any special treatment or facility benefit at all.”

The congressman asked that the official attend a open legislative session to address the disclosures and also posed three questions to the President.

Raskin asked whether Trump had talked about a potential commutation for the convict with the official or others, whether he had directed him or anyone else to arrange Maxwell with the move or special conditions in detention, and whether Maxwell, her lawyers, relatives or agents have made any promises to the President or his attorneys.

The representative requested for a response to the inquiries by the specified date.

Last month, the nation's highest court declined to hear an appeal from Maxwell on her sex-trafficking conviction.
