Lando Norris narrowly beat team-mate and title rival the Australian for the quickest lap in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix. The British racer, who seized the points lead from Piastri by just one point after his victory in Mexico City recently, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs. Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to have an incident, though minor, when he lost control at Turn Four during the early running. The Japanese lost control over the track edges before spinning across the escape zone, and was fortunate to get away with just a minor contact of the fence. Ferrari's the seven-time champion also spun, at the very end of the session, spinning around through the high-speed Mergulho corner approaching the final bend on to the pit straight. Hamilton ended the session in P19, just behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
